This week’s point news broadcast began with Anchors Thomas Speranza and Isaac Graves delivering breaking campus news. Our anchors informed the community of the recent passing of a Point Park Animation Student on campus. They followed that statement with sources that students can access if they find they are struggling with the passing of their fellow classmates.
Isaac then delivered a story on a recent E. coli outbreak due to raw milk being sold, which has infected at least nine people in three separate states. After the health update, Isaac also talked about a merger between two Pittsburgh theater companies and how it may impact the future of Pittsburgh Arts.
Moving on to public safety, Thomas informed viewers of a massive three-alarm fire that was located in Bloomfield and how it’s bringing attention to future fire safety within other Pittsburgh buildings.
After a quick break, Reporter Ruthie Light gave an in-depth analysis of how local restaurants in Pittsburgh’s Strip District have planned to feed so many visitors during the NFL Draft. Moving on to sports, Reporter Annabella Gizza updated viewers on the March Madness Final Four.
In international news, Reporter Fritz Reiter gave a perspective on the Iran war and how it came to be, with the reasons for its fruition, as well as a perspective from a local Point Park International Relations Professor.
Reporter Ahri Riso then informed viewers of the recent chaotic Pittsburgh weather, as well as the weekly weather, and whether viewers need to plan for a wet or sunny Easter holiday weekend.
Moving again to local sports news, Reporter Robert Fornataro gave a report on the backstory of the NFL Draft and its connection to Pittsburgh history.
That’s all for this week’s international, national, and local Pittsburgh news.
